
Its a male Hooded Merganser in winter, mating plumage. Quite common around Ludlow in winter. They generally hang in Alaska on the West Coast, and the upper Atlantic coast. They winter as far south as Southern Oregon or on the East Coast, all the way to Florida. Their courtship dance is great fun to watch…
