After Cortes Island: Prideaux Haven and… Galley Bay

I’ve heard about it. You’ve probably heard about it if you’ve read anything about cruising Desolation Sound and environs in a boat. Straight forward navigation will get you there. And if you are lucky, you will find a place to nest for a few days and explore the area by kayak, SUP or dink.

On the way from Squirrel Cove on Cortes Island, to Prideaux Haven. Melville Island to stage right, Morgan Island stage left. Seas calm. Currents quiescent.
Nearly there. Just outside Prideaux Haven. The excitement is building…
Inside the Haven, anchored in the Western quadrant. Pretty, but a bit crowded for our taste, eh? After Carrington and Von Donop, it is outright crowded. Nothing like the reported crowds during the high season, but still…
Our first (and only) night in Prideaux…
Melanie Cove, an offshoot to the East of Prideaux Haven.

So… that’s that, and no harm done. To us, Prideaux is another pretty face amongst other pretty and prettier faces in Desolation Sound and the Discovery Islands. We stayed one day… and left, after deciding that we preferred, Waiatt Bay, Carrington Bay and Von Donop Inlet for their equally exquisite visual accoutrements, but more for their feeling of remoteness and “pristine”.

Good to know, eh?
