The Inlet

The hissing breath of late spring waterfalls
Trailing across the face of vast granitic cliffs
Tear tracks rambling through a field of scars
Born of glaciers, wind, water and fire
That seduce the mighty
To descend into the sea

Morning zephyrs
Blur the contours
Drawn between Earth
And water
Emboldened terrestrials
Green
Riotous spring
Buds
Fresh needles
The lungs of Trees
Moss
Lichen
The greenish hint of the Sea
Merge
Into one
Fiery rivers of midnight herring
Snaking through phosphorescent seas
A bath of innumerable others
Illuminating their path
And those of predators
Seals
Larger fish
Dining on the bounty
Granite
Everywhere
Ancient patina
Ravaged
Softened by flora
Marked
Enduring
Present
Storied
Observed
