Kai…

I have not written in the blog for a bit. I haven’t had the gumption. The third strand of our little families rope of life:  Les, Blair and… Kai has unraveled.  Kai’s not with us anymore.

For the first time in more than 40 years, we don’t have a little furry friend with us.  We’ve had up to three horses, 3 cats and 3 dogs all at once and over the decades whittled that down as the others left us… to one dog. 

And all on his onesies… he did a valiant job of keeping us grounded.  Dogs have a way of doing that. Simple routines. Unflinching loyalty. Unconditional attention. Constant companionship. Our furry companions provide all that and more for us.

And this one was especially good at it…

  2. I miss my little dog! He was the best traveller… where by car, boat, plane, bike or even paddleboard. He will always have a special place in our hearts.

  3. Well, I’ve been thinking of and on about Kai and discovered a few things. He was the noblest Chihuahua I ever knew or met. A Chihuahua after my own heart, he would eagerly lap up a bit of good gin and tonic, a nice bit of red wine or a dram or two of beer or tequila – don’t get me started. What other Chihuahua would perch on your shoulder like a bird to see what was going on at your level? I know of none. So I’m going to perch out on the deck and lift a pint to Kai, the best Chihuahua.

    1. Thanks for that. It was clear to us he thought the world of you… I mean anyone perceptive enough and willing to share alcoholic beverages with him and not worry about backwash… pinnacle of decency to him…
